First Cohort - Girls

Barracks for the girls of the First Cohort. Boys are not allowed in here overnight.

Callie came in and relaxed on her cot.

Michael knocked cautiously on the door, and poked his head inside.

"Yeah?" Callie said in way of greeting.

"I, uh," Michael fumbled. "May I come in?"

"Sure." Callie said and lifted her head to look at him. "What's up?"

"I, uh," Michael continued as he cautiously stepped inside. "I realised that I didn't want to be a kebab if a monster came after me."

Callie sat up straight with a grin. "Perfect." she said.

"I don't want to kill things! Much less people," Michael defended. "But, I, uh," he pulled out the sword the monster had been frightened of when he'd brandished it. "Guess this works, and guess I should know how to use it so I don't behead myself."

Callie got off her cot, blowing her hair out her face and walking over. She inspected the sword with her eyes. "That will definitely do." she said with a nod.

"It's been hung on my wall since... forever," Michael shrugged, wafting it a bit.

Callie stepped back a bit. "It's made of Imperial Gold. It's used to fight off monsters." she said and walked over to her trunk that sat at the foot of her cot. Opening it, she pulled out a sword similar to the one he had.

"Snap," Michael grinned, wafting his blade in her general direction, before swearing as it tipped unexpectedly out of his hand and clattered to the floor. "Huh."

Callie sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Oh boy." she said.

Michael's face fell and he bent hurriedly to pick it up. "Guess I should stop waving it, huh," he tried to lighten the mood.

She chuckled. "You've got a long way to go." she said.

"I gathered that," Michael shrugged.

Callie grinned. "Come on." she said and grabbed her shield before leading him out the door.

Michael followed her curiously, sword hanging from his hand.
